SEVEN DEADLY SINS WRITING COMPETITION | THE NARRATIVE ARC
I can say that with no hesitation
Ever since I became sexually aware, I wanted a threesome. Maybe it was the movies or porn I was watching, but I had it in my head that it was going to be the end-all, be-all, of sexual experiences.
Yes, I know that’s shallow, but this article is about a sin.
I didn’t have sex until I was 19. So when the opportunity finally presented itself, I took it.
One date night, Susan and I had been at the bar which was 35 minutes away from our house. Rather than drive home tipsy, we asked my friend if we could crash at his place.

I had known Jack for five years and he didn’t have great morals when it came to women. Cheating wasn’t a word in his vocabulary, and he didn’t understand commitment. His modus operandi was the following:
Have a party at his apartment
Invite a pretty girl he knew
Get drunk
Hang out in bedroom
Ask for sex
Cry when rejected
Ask for sex again
Sex
While this didn’t always work, it worked often enough for him to believe in the process. He didn’t act like that when I met him as an 18-year-old college freshman, but he was 23 now and a hard life can change a man for the worse.
He was a little on the short side, kind of pudgy, had blond hair and blue eyes. From what I was told by his former lovers, he wasn’t all that…large.
But I wasn’t able to prove it at the time.
He said yes, we could come over and crash at his apartment. He didn’t have a roommate, so we didn’t need to worry about bothering anyone else.
Susan and Jack had met years ago and were pretty cool with each other. The two of them had made out and fooled around a few times at other parties which of course, he loved. I guess you could call us swingers back then.
In baseball terms, I’d say they had already been to “third base.”
So, let me set the stage.

There we had my fiancé, one of my best friends, an empty apartment, and a lot of tequila shots.
I don’t remember how long it took for our clothes come off, but it couldn’t have been more than twenty minutes. Susan and I were already tipsy, and Jack didn’t need any drinks to join because…well that’s just who he was.
I won’t write in detail what happened, and I’m not great at writing smut. So, I’ve created a Frequently Asked Questions list.
Was it weird watching your friend have sex with your fiancé? Meh. A little.
How drunk were you? I ended the night bent over a toilet.
Did Susan have fun? Meh. She said later he wasn’t that great.
Was she lying? Maybe, but the girls he had slept with said the same thing.
Did it fulfill my wildest dreams and fantasies? No.
Did you and Jack mess around? No, not my type.
Was it worth it? Well…

I’m not sure what I thought would happen afterwards, but I know the puking over a toilet wasn’t exactly how I thought my first threesome would end.
It also didn’t help that Jack was in the beginning of a bad downward spiral in his life. He would go on to fail out of a master's program and move home with his parents. His sexual antics would also land him in hot water with the law a few years later too.
As for Susan and I, we are still happily married and our “Sex Capades” continue into better nights including threesomes and more. But as they say…
There’s nothing like the first time.
