Hey everyone.
A quick update today. If you’ve been reading my writing for a while, then you’ll know I dip into poetry. I don’t write poetry often, but sometimes, when I can’t seem to put words in the correct order, art is all I have left.
My life is hectic and getting busier by the day. End-of-the-year school events for my kids, my job is merging into our parent company, and a big project is starting next week. As for my publication, Project Jade is moving closer to completion. Working in WordPress is easier, but a series of never-ending options. Do I want this square to have rounded circles? Which of these 15 animations do I want for every single object on this page? Why do I suddenly have two footers on this page instead of only one? The questions keep coming, but at least I’m finding answers to them.
The public announcement for Project Jade is on Friday, and I’d really like to have SOMETHING to show everyone. I would love to assemble one of those polished demo reels, and Canva has a great template for them. I just need about ten more hours each day, and I’ll be set!
As for book two, it’s also coming alone.
is doing an excellent job and has formatted the entire manuscript. Now, we’ve moved onto copyediting, which is what I traditionally just call…editing. Who knew there were different kinds of editing? Editors. I bet they knew. One of the more exciting parts of book two is I wrote my first acknowledgments page. Honestly, I had to Google what an acknowledgment page was for and how it differed from a dedication page. But I found a few amazing individuals to thank, and I told them so. Each person was excited, and I think all of them told me they would buy the book. Hopefully, it’s actually good. I posted the introduction on Medium, and one gentleman stated my introduction wasn’t very engaging or exciting. I appreciate the feedback, but it makes me wonder if all my writing is boring. I’ll take another look at it and see what I can do.
I’ll leave you with something special, though! Here is an fun little widget I made for Project Jade. Normally, on Medium, when you link an article that you previously wrote, Medium auto-generates this fun box for you.
However, I wanted to create something more fun and interactive. So, I created a widget that flips around when you mouse over or tap on it on mobile. It’s so cool! I wish I could show it to you in high def, but my screen recorder keeps messing up, so here is a recording from my cell phone.
Hopefully, everyone likes it!
Ok, back to work now!
