Hello,
My name is Patrick Stewart and I founded and lead the team at The Taoist Online. I’ve wanted to be a writer for over 20 years. When I was 18, I started to write poetry, short stories, and online journals which we would now call blogging. But while in college, I earned a Communication Studies degree because getting a writing degree just seemed so unobtainable.
Fast forward 22 years and I’m now 40, married, with three kids, and a stable career. Things have slowed with raising kids, but they still take most of my resources. So, I’ve returned to writing as my dream goal and to help raise additional support for my family.
I’ve self-published a book of poetry and I’m working on a second book. I’ve started writing every day on Medium and I’m running two publications and helping approve/edit another. I’ve gone from writing to being a fun pastime to being a major part of my day.
With all of the work I’m putting in, and all of the success, I feel like this is my chance to push and reach for my dream of becoming a real writer! To do that I need to trademark my publication name, The Taoist Online.
I’ve been a Taoist for 5 years after a cancer scare, tinnitus, and anxiety diagnosis left me pretty mentally broken. Taoism has helped me find myself again and kept me pushing forward.
With a trademark secured, I could continue my writing without the threat of someone stealing the name and I could begin to brand my publication with the full authority and security to make my writing a second form of income to give my family the life they deserve.
Filing a trademark is $250 to start and can go as high as $700 depending on which one you want. So, I’m asking for $250 and I’ll try and come up with the rest through other means. I know this isn’t a life-or-death situation, but I want this to be the legacy that I can leave behind. As a customer support manager, I wake up every day and help people find solutions where I work.
But now, I want to help them feel better and live for a brighter tomorrow through our writing.
Taoism can help so many people and every time I sit down to write, I think about taking my work to another level.
